This slug mucus-inspired surgical glue is strong enough to patch up a beating heart

Researchers at Harvard’s Wyss Institute were inspired by slug slime to create a very tough hydrogel adhesive that can stick to surfaces which are dynamic and covered in blood. Think of it as a Band-Aid for internal wounds, only this one can be molded into any shape or size and stretched up to 20 times its original length. Researchers hope that this material will eventually help reduce the cases where staples and stitches are necessary.
